Body Shop Apprentice
Location: Newmarket, ON
Job Summary
As an Body Shop Apprentice, you will assist in performing automotive body repairs, including straightening frames, removing dents, and replacing damaged components. You’ll work under the guidance of experienced technicians to develop your skills in collision repair and refinishing, while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Perform sheet metal repairs, dent removal, and part replacements using hand and power tools.
- Align and adjust body components, including doors, panels, and bumpers.
- Assist with repairs to locks, latches, glass, and upholstery as needed.
- Document all work performed, including parts used, time spent, and repair notes in the fleet maintenance system.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, shop tool handling, and waste disposal procedures.
- Maintain a clean and secure work environment.
- Provide written repair estimates when requested.
- Adhere to First Student’s Injury Prevention (IP) standards and safety culture.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- Completion of or enrollment in an Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair program.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license.
- ASE certification (optional but considered an asset).
Experience & Skills:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Basic computer literacy (for documentation and fleet systems).
- Familiarity with shop tools including plasma cutters and welding equipment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
