The Supervisor will lead a team of underground utility locating technicians, ensuring that locates are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently. This role is responsible for training, coaching, and developing field staff, while maintaining high standards of performance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Build rapport and maintain strong relationships with assigned technicians

  • Train and develop technician skills in utility locating and safety practices

  • Troubleshoot complex locates and support field operations

  • Monitor daily workloads and identify areas for improvement

  • Conduct audits and investigate damages as needed

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies

  • Manage inventory and supplies for field teams

  • Partner with HR and leadership to address employee relations

  • Review GPS and fleet data to ensure operational integrity

  • Engage in emerging technologies (Drone, Lidar, GIS Data Collection)

  • Lead by example in safety, professionalism, and teamwork

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in utility locating or related field preferred

  • Lead Technician experience strongly preferred

  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required

  • Must have attained Technician 4 rank or higher (internal candidates)

  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to coach and mentor field staff effectively

  • Familiarity with SUE Field Services and private locating practices

  • Must meet internal performance benchmarks (Driver and Quality scores of 8+)
