Multnomah County Library seeks a relationship builder to join our Community Engagement team as our Black Cultural Competency Community Services Coordinator. In this role, you will support community engagement efforts with the Black and African American community to inform the continual development and implementation of library programs and services. This is done in collaboration with other teams within our organization teams as well as other staff with cultural or language focuses.

As our  Black Cultural Competency Community Services Coordinator, you will provide subject matter expertise to our program offerings and our engagement with the Black and African American community. This will be accomplished, in part, by the following, which is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with our Black Cultural Competency team to gather information and input that informs development and services to the Black and African American community.
  • Facilitating planning between library groups and partner organizations, creating a unified model of service delivery to the Black and African American community.
  • Implementing and supporting projects derived from community input and engagement sessions focused on serving the Black and African American community within the scope of the Library’s service priorities.
  • Representing the Library in the community.
  • Identifying service updates, changes, or additions that best meet the library needs of community members and serving as a liaison between community members and library leadership.
  • Serving as the liaison between the Multnomah County Library and other county departments in relation to outreach services to  Black and African American community within the Library’s service priorities.
  • Partnering with Community Engagement team members and other staff in the organization to collaborate on services and programs that may be cross-culturally beneficial.
  • Engaging with volunteers to support culturally specific services and programs.
  • Assisting with monitoring budget expenditures, if applicable, and providing reports for grant funded services as well as implementing and supporting formal written agreements.
