Birth Certificate Coordinator

The Birth Certificate Coordinator will be responsible for obtaining correct information for birth certificate reporting and preparing the certificate in accordance with State of Utah Vital Statistics Rules and Regulations.  Coordinate and organize birth certificate information to ensure smooth workflow and provide quality assurance within the Birth Certificate process.  Gather material and ensure timely transport to Vital Statistics.  Responsible for gathering statistical information for Health Information Management.

Here’s what you will experience working as a Birth Certificate Coordinator:

  • Interview obstetrical patients and review medical records to gather and complete birth certificate information.

  • Accurately prepare and type birth certificates in compliance with state regulations.

  • Communicate necessary reporting and charge requirements to parents.

  • Submit completed birth certificates to the health department within required timeframes.

  • Flag adoption cases according to policy.

  • Provide birth verification to patients as requested.

  • Compile and report statistics to management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma required

  • HIM department experience

  • Computer and electronic medical records experience

  • Familiarity with state birth certificate regulations and medical terminology preferred

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $20.02 - $31.38 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
