Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is seeking experienced and adaptable variable part-time (on-call) Field Biologists to support upcoming fieldwork in South Florida. The successful candidate should have 0-5 years’ experience and at least an associate’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant, college-level coursework in environmental science or related field and applied experience. Priority given towards qualified candidates with 2+ years of experience & a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Preference will be given to candidates with 2+ years of direct experience with vegetation surveys, boating and trailering and/or wildlife survey experience. Candidates should have a strong desire to learn and survey Florida Bonneted Bats, other bat species, or avian species thru cavity survey’s, camera peeping and observation
Please note, this is a project-based position contingent upon our successful award of the associated contract. Employment is dependent on securing this work.
Who You Are
Qualified candidates should enjoy fieldwork, be able to walk long distances carrying a backpack and be able to lift at least 50 pounds. You are confident working outside, in remote and rural settings. You should have previous experience working outside in South Florida for long periods of time and should be able to endure conditions that are typical in the region including but not limited to high temperatures, inclement weather and uncomfortable working conditions, traversing dense vegetation, uneven ground and sometimes steep terrain in and around wetlands, swarming mosquitos and other insects. General experience with wildlife and vegetation species found in South Florida and the Everglades is desired but not required.
Qualified candidates must reside within a 5-hour travel time of Weston, FL, and be willing to work remotely for a minimum of 5 days at a time. The successful candidate will be requested to work every other week committing to 50 hours within weeks worked. The need for part-time on-call services is expected to be greatest from December 2025 through June 2026, but periodic work may continue to the end of 2026.
You must possess a valid driver’s license, have own transportation to project sites, and possess a smart phone.
