Role/ Department:

As part of Northern Trust’s Global Threat Technology team, the Azure Automation Engineer will have an emphasis on automating security engineering, with a particular focus on productivity and efficiency opportunities within the Azure environment. The Azure Automation Engineer will also play a crucial role in executing Northern Trust’s cloud security strategy, as part of a diverse, multicultural team.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Implement, and maintain automation solutions using Azure native infrastructure and custom code

  • Support the adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks and best practices using tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates

  • Deploy and troubleshoot automated cloud resources, including network, storage, compute, and monitoring resources.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, security, and application development teams, to ingest log sources.

  • Contribute to and drive the establishment of best practices, standards, and processes to ensure efficient cloud solution development.

  • Implement robust security practices and policies in line with Azure’s security standards (e.g., Azure Security Center, Key Vault, etc.).

Skills\Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Expertise in Azure services including Compute, Networking, Storage, Security, and Monitoring.

  • Strong experience with Azure Log Analytics Workspaces (Kusto Query Language expertise is a must)

  • Strong experience with PowerShell, Python, PowerApps.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM Templates.

  • Experience with Co-Pilots.

  • Solid understanding of cloud security practices, governance, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience working in multi-cultural, distributed teams, and demonstrated ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures.
