Job Summary

  • Lead the pricing team and perform pricing for new product initiatives to support business growth and strategies
  • Assist Chief Product Officer to strike for a balance between commercial and financial considerations
  • Manage senior stakeholders

The Job


- Perform feasibility studies and price new products to meet company business plan and strategies, including:

  • Financial KPIs such as VNB and NBS can meet that approved in business plan
  • Provide inputs on product strategies and develop products to support
  • Liaise with Product Development team and distribution channels for commercial consideration from customer lens
  • Keep abreast of the ongoing regulatory and market development and act promptly to changes in regulations and market need


- During new product development and after product launch, ensure all material product risks are identified, managed and mitigated. This includes:

  • Actively provide input during product design stage
  • Set up reinsurance arrangement where appropriate
  • Propose investment strategy and assumptions and agree with Actuarial and Capital Management team
  • Document identified risks in PARP and facilitate Group and local management approval
  • Review marketing materials to ensure accuracy and compliance to regulations

- Implement proper controls and change management process of pricing model

- Manage experience monitoring and provide input for prompt management actions

- Work closely with different functions to deliver company-wide projects, and take the lead to communicate actuarial and pricing related information to stakeholders to facilitate decision making

- Propose plans for staff development:

  • Improve regular process to facilitate task rotation, and reduce time spent on less-engaging work
  • Manage work allocation to and actuarial exam progress of staff
  • Facilitate and encourage job rotation to meet the staff development need

The Person

  • 15+ years of actuarial experience covering life insurance
  • Fellowship in a recognized international actuarial professional body
  • Strong technical and project management skill
  • Strong business acumen and communication skill, with proven ability to influence and work with business functions
  • Attention to details and what is going on in other functions
  • Being flexible to stretch and multi-tasking
  • Implement product strategies and articulate the link to company strategies
  • Encourages discussions and healthy debates
  • Assist in channel management
  • Candidate may be considered as Senior Director position depending on qualifications
