MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE 

Working within the Service Management Group, the Data Centre Infrastructure Management member is responsible for planning and managing the physical data centre asset throughout their lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Senior Level support of activities involving installation, extraction, and relocation to ensure that the data centre and various systems are running well. Interfacing with vendors on the delivery and installation of equipment.
  • Generate data reports on the condition of numerous systems for management.
  • Maintain and upgrade equipment; troubleshoot problems associated with organization-wide equipment and materials.
  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex equipment cabling and power issues

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Data centre experience working with physical servers
  • Experience in the banking or finance industries preferred
  • Experience working in a data centre environment; racking and stacking equipment and cable management.
  • Install, configure, and maintain switches, servers, firewalls, and storage sub-systems
  • Resolve operational, infrastructure, or hardware incidents in a data centre
  • Understanding of one or more of the mechanical, electrical, control, and fire life safety systems of the type used in a data centre environment including, but not limited to: electrical distribution, mechanical and electrical controls, diesel generators, backup power systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and fire detection and suppression systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety best practices (i.e., lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and state regulations)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Senior Level proficiency with Data Centre designs and environmental equipment integration of power and cooling units as they relate to IT landscape deployments
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in Data Centre connectivity between network devices, SAN fabrics and computing platforms
  • Familiar with iTRACS (Data Centre Modelling) and/or other data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) tools
