Position Brand Description:

Develop, implement, and continuously improve process automation solutions within Indy Parenteral to ensure that business goals are achieved. Ensure that process automation solutions / systems are in-control, capable, and compliant

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve the safety culture.
  • Actively participate in safety-related activities (audits, JSA’s, hazard reviews, etc.) to drive ongoing safety improvement.
  • Provide automation expertise as active member of area process team.
  • Obtain technical expertise of equipment and processes in area of responsibility.
  • Establish & monitor/trend control systems as tool for verifying and optimizing equipment performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve more difficult equipment and operational problems. 
  • Utilize formal problem-solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis, to resolve equipment issues.
  • Respond to and implement customer requests related to the equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with others, especially process team members, operations, engineering tech, and crafts personnel. 
  • Implement corrections, corrective actions, and countermeasures arising from CAPA’s.
  • Lead or participate in verification and qualification activities (including commissioning activities of new equipment or areas).
  • Define system user requirements, design system architectures, develop code.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects, etc.) associated with equipment within the area.
  • Utilize good project management skills to provide software development timelines and milestones.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (or equivalent work experience)
  • Adequate interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong computer skills in a variety of software packages (Excel, JMP, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others.

Additional Preferences:

  • Previous experience as a process or automation engineer, preferably within the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control (process and/or manufacturing), control systems, integration, and data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Experience in one or more automation platforms, preferable Rockwell Automation Systems.

Other Information:

  • This position serves an 8-hour Monday through Friday work schedule. Situations may arise where weekend/holiday support, both on-site and off-site, will be required.
  • Tasks require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas which require wearing appropriate PPE
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$66,000 - $171,600

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
