GLOBAL CAPEX PROCUREMENT
The Global Capex Procurement Team is a vital element of the Unilever global procurement organization, enabling the procurement organization to design and deliver step-change across value chains, operating processes and tools, and business models in the capital expenditure space.

In this role you will be responsible for leading the end to end professional sourcing strategy and its ongoing evolution with the Value Chain Intervention team, BG and factory engineering teams leveraging your deep technical expertise in projects management/engineering you will support the global capex procurement team with development of their strategic approach and with their negotiations and pipeline of value delivery.
As one of the world’s leading players within the Home, Personal Care and Beauty and Well Being categories Unilever is looking at optimising values across the extended value chain. This role is responsible for developing and keeping live the overall procurement strategy for Value Chain Intervention and how we drive the most effective conversion of ideas into execution across Homecare, Personal Care and Beauty and Wellbeing. The role will seek to drive continuous end to end efficiencies across the feasibility to execution phase of the project cycle.
The role will involve a good understanding of the different value chains and close alignment with both internal and external stakeholders.
The role will leverage the programs on decarbonisation to support the most effective way to ingest and drive GHG reductions at the level of VCI programs through to our vendors in delivering the scope 1,2 and 3 emissions targets
The role encompasses technical as well as business and procurement skill sets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Sr Global Capex Procurement Manager , the Asst. VCI Capex Procurement Manager is tasked with overseeing the capex procurement for ~450mE pipeline of VCI projects over the course of next 3 years with the below key responsibilities
• Lead the continuous techno economic assessment of extended value chains to identify and unlock trapped value in value chains all the way to end use.
• Steer strategic negotiations related to current and new technologies including, but not limited to technology assessments, commercials and should cost modelling.
• Develop a clear understanding and utilise expertise within or outside the organization to business case ideas and delivery pathways for new value chain projects.
• Act as an advisor for VCI team leads and run continuous techno economic assessments to help and assist the identification and unlock of potential new technologies
• Structure and manage key current and new technology partnerships and associations within the industry to accelerate delivery from the VCI strategy across value, purpose, and future-fit goals.
• Scout for challengers and new capacities that would meet the evolving needs of the business, keep and maintain a healthy pipeline of new projects and programs.
• Responsible for the accelerated delivery of Procurement Key Value Platforms (Our Lighthouse Programs), and influencing across Benchmarking, Competitive Buying, Value Chain, Sustainability, and Technology adoption.
• Critically the role needs to identify best practice benchmarks and assess the business case of delivery against the top priority gap closure initiatives.
• Accelerate and support delivery of value savings and margin enhancement for the BG’s and BUs in line with sourcing strategies.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with sound engineering fundamentals and with around 10 years experience
• Innovative mindset with a proven ability to adapt solutions to optimum cost levels
• Ability to challenge the engineering teams and hence deep operational expertise is essential
• Good understanding of mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, SHE verticals
• Should have handled complex projects independently at an operational level
• Should have experience in dealing with consultants, vendors, contractors etc
• Should be well versed in cost estimation
• Willing to travel extensively
