As Associate Principal Scientist in Protein Chemistry, you will drive analytical innovation and lead high-value scientific projects within our Protein & Process Analytics R&D team. You will contribute to method development, complex data analysis, and cross-functional collaborations that directly impact biologics process development and product quality.

What you will do:
● Provide oversight and execute scientific activities, including study design, laboratory work, coaching of junior scientists, project management, and technology scouting.
● Develop and evaluate innovative Protein Chemistry methods to support biologics process development.
● Lead implementation of high-throughput assays, automation, and integration within the Lonza network.
● Provide scientific leadership within the team and collaborate across Bio R&D to maximize impact.
● Engage in external collaborations and disseminate results via publications and conferences.
● Act as Protein Chemistry analytical lead on multiple collaborative projects, guiding analytical discussions and supporting project decision-making.
What we are looking for:
● PhD in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Biomanufacturing, or related field.
● Extensive industry experience (Post-PhD 6+ years or Master’s 10+ years) in analytical Protein Chemistry.
● Expertise in chromatography (SEC, IEX, HIC, HILIC, RP, affinity), mass spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS), and other protein separation methods (icIEF, CE-SDS).
● Hands-on experience with advanced MS instrumentation (Orbitrap, Q-TOF, Triple Quadrupole, MALDI-TOF).
● Proficiency in MS data analysis software (Xcalibur, MassHunter, Protein Metrics, Skyline, BioPharma Finder, PEAKS, Byos).
● Proven track record of publications/patent filings in Protein Chemistry.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and deliver projects within a matrix organization.
