As the Associate Packaging Engineer, you will work with the team to design product packaging across multiple categories to ensure product integrity and appeal under varying shipping and display conditions. You will design, test, analyze, and select materials for packaging based on durability, functionality, sustainable attributes, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.  You will work collaboratively with various internal and external partners through all phases of develop-ment. In this role, you will be the conduit for all packaging communication between YETI and external partners.  You will ensure our packaging supports our premium brand aesthetic throughout its full lifecycle.  

Responsibilities:
•    Develop deep understanding of strategic packages, products, and processes to support development of new packaging platforms, and contribute to troubleshooting and problem solving of current processes
•    Identify and lead packaging sustainability initiatives in support of Corporate objectives
•    Develop, maintain, and optimize packaging specifications and assembly instructions across assigned categories
•    Lead multiple project types-new development, sustaining/maintenance, and optimization initiatives
•    Provide visibility to project team of packaging development steps, timelines, risks, and contingency plans 
•    Fully support highly collaborative work environment with global touch points across all business areas (Innovation, Ops, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sales, Finance, CEG) 
•    Initiate and drive packaging efficiency initiatives through interaction with key stakeholders within supplier and manufacturing networks
•    Design, plan, and conduct pkg performance testing and trials while ensuring proper documentation of each activity
•    Ensure on-time execution of projects with oversight from Packaging Leadership
•    Ensure all package Quality expectations for finished goods are delivered
•    Build strong relationships with external partners
•    Provide technical support for field issue resolution
•    Support and refine team best practices to ensure world class packaging development efforts

Qualifications and Attributes: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering
•    At least 0-2 years’ experience in a Packaging Engineering role
•    Knowledge of packaging materials & processes
•    Knowledge of general material handling practices
•    Understanding of package testing methodology
•    Understanding of commercial printing processes and color control methodologies
•    Exposure to technical root cause analysis
•    Sound verbal and written communication skills
•    Time management and prioritization skills
•    Competency in TOPS and/or CAPE software
