Analog Devices’ Smart Grid Solutions group is seeking a motivated System Applications Engineer to provide support to our Automotive Electrification and Sustainable Energy business unit, located at ADI’s European Research and Development Center, Limerick, Ireland.

The Smart Grid Solutions team is responsible for developing solutions for the Energy and Electric Vehicle markets. The urgency to address the climate change challenge is accelerating the pace of innovation in these markets. The

team has been leading the development of technologies to position ADI as leaders in this high-growth area.

The accepted candidate will work closely with our customers and partners to define system requirements and develop proof-of-concept demonstrations to showcase our technologies. A focus will be placed on technologies that help integrate renewable generation and de-carbonization the grid.  

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • To develop and promote system-level solutions, solving customers’ current and emerging problems.
  • Design, prototype and evaluation of PCBs used to demonstrate key ADI technology.
  • Developing software for use in system control (i.e. embedded software), algorithms and data analysis.
  • Understanding system requirements and standards, and performing hardware and software testing to ensure our solutions comply with standardized performance benchmarks.
  • Support the customer development cycle through educating customers and understanding their needs.
  • Grow strong technical and business networks across ADI to create differentiating system-level solutions.
  • Travel, up to 10% of the time, to visit customers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia markets.

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to develop and articulate system requirements as part of a broader strategy.
  • Good team player, who enjoys working in a highly dynamic team environment.
  • Ambitious & highly motivated individual looking for big and rewarding technical and business challenges.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working with a software environment such as Python or LabVIEW a plus.
  • Familiarity working in a PCB design environment such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, KiCAD etc.
  • Experience with some mechanical design (Solidworks, FreeCAD, etc.)
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, willingness to learn, and a solid work ethic are valued more than any particular skill
