Associate Director, Technology Product Management

Basic Function

The Associate Director, Research & Advisory Technical Product Management plays a critical leadership role in enabling AI-driven and leading edge technology product and platform development to support the Go-To-Market (GTM) function. This role focuses on translating strategic initiatives into actionable product development plans, ensuring the technical decisions are sound, and efficient, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business goals, and driving a consistent level of urgency into the development lifecycle.

This role serves as a key enabler of technology, particularly AI and automation, to enhance product capabilities, streamline development processes, and improve customer outcomes. The Associate Director partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective execution of product roadmaps and commercialization efforts.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

The Associate Director is responsible for leading the execution of product development initiatives, with a strong focus on AI enablement and customer-centric design. Key responsibilities include:

Product Development & Execution

  • Translate strategic product vision into executable development plans and roadmaps.
  • Lead AI-enabled product and platform development efforts to enhance GTM capabilities.
  • Oversee enhancements to existing platforms and the development of new features, services, and offers.
  • Ensure adherence to product development processes including requirements gathering, financial reviews, and design methodologies.

Customer-Centric Innovation

  • Conduct customer research and inquiries to identify pain points and opportunities for innovation.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to define business requirements and product concepts that address customer needs.
  • Support post-release tracking and performance analysis to inform future enhancements.

Technology Enablement & AI Integration

  • Serve as the primary liaison with internal technology teams to ensure development efforts are aligned with business goals.
  • Champion the use of AI and automation to improve product functionality, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Partner with engineering and data science teams to integrate AI capabilities and other leading-edge technologies into product offerings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide direction and support to cross-functional teams including Technology, Editorial, Content Delivery, Customer Operations, Finance, and Legal.
  • Facilitate collaboration between Product Managers and technical teams to ensure seamless execution of product initiatives.

Financial Oversight

  • Monitor product development budgets and expenses, including digital experience group (dxg) proposals and charges.
  • Review monthly usage metrics and implement course correction plans as needed to maintain financial health.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop a team of Product Managers and Technical Product Managers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

Job Qualifications

Education:  BS/BA or equivalent required

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) required, preferably in Business, Technology, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or equivalent) strongly preferred.   

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Product Management, with 5+ years in direct team leadership roles 
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following domains:
    • B2B software solutions
    • Professional publishing or information services
    • Corporate or public Accounting and Tax
  • 5+ years software development, preferably in enterprise SaaS
  • Experience leading AI-enabled product development
  • Proven success in cross-functional leadership, especially in matrixed environments.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:   

  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of developing high-performing teams and fostering innovation.
  • Hands on experience working with full-stack development teams at a technical level.
  • Experience working with UI and UX teams, ideally with an eye for design details.
  • Deep understanding of product lifecycle management, including go-to-market execution and post-launch optimization.
  • Skilled in AI and technology enablement to drive product innovation and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent strategic and tactical planning skills, with the ability to translate vision into execution.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Adept at navigating ambiguity and driving alignment across diverse teams.
  • Agile mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and customer-centricity.
