The Associate Director, Manufacturing Engineering will join our Foley, Alabama site and provide technical, process and personnel leadership to provide innovative, reliable, and efficient manufacturing processes to output product according to the customer specification.  

Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities include technical production support, optimization of manufacturing and test processes, new product introduction to production and the development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies. This position is accountable for providing high integrity engineering products/services and continuously developing the department’s technical skills to provide the required efficiency, effectiveness, capability, and capacity to meet business needs. 

This position will work onsite in Foley, Alabama. Relocation assistance is available.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead Functional Team of manufacturing engineers, which includes supervisory levels. 
  • Organizational structure development: appropriately size staff and balance department skills, deploy staff to projects and set priorities, ensure excellent project execution, administer employee performance, career development and training. 
  • Provide leadership and application of domain processes and company policies, manage department metrics, and implement initiatives for performance improvement. 
  • Establish and implement the strategy for identifying opportunities to reduce costs; using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly and test methods, quality control standards, or product design changes 
  • Leads the most complex process engineering projects and develops innovative approaches to production problems. 
  • Lead equipment upgrade initiatives, including investments in equipment, systems, or other assets, to improve the organization’s production capabilities. 
  • Act as a cultural change agent: continually analyzing the business for improvement opportunities and takes bold action where required. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience
  • Prior experience leading in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing projects and/or multiple projects at once
  • Experience presenting to all levels of an organization

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Mechanical Assembly Experience or MRB/Stress experience
  • Experience introducing new products to production
  • PMP Certification and/or Six Sigma Certification 
  • Cross functional work experience (e. g. Operations, Project Mgmt. Materials, Quality, Business Processes, Supply Chain)

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
