Associate Director, Biomarkers

Responsibilities include:


This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Work with key external industry and/or academic partners to evaluate, validate and establish key biomarker capabilities and/or generate key biomarker data to support biomarker strategies for clinical trial implementation at GSK.

  • You will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing collaborative projects that aid in developing biomarker capabilities that are of strategic importance to OTM and in alignment with GSK clinical trials.

  • Identify, develop and implement cutting edge advances in science and technology into biomarker strategies to guide indication selection, patient enrichment, and combination strategies.

  • Provide input to clinical biomarker teams on novel technologies that will enable clinical development of GSK candidate drugs.

  • Manage effective working relationships with clinical biomarker leads, medical affairs, oncology tumor teams, portfolio management, competitive intelligence, clinical development and OTM management.

  • Contribute to and ensure the quality of OTM biomarker reports, summaries, data reviews and interpretations as applicable. Present key data/findings/accomplishments at internal as well as external scientific forums, lead the preparation and publication of scientific manuscripts as needed.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field with 2+ years of experience,

Or

  • M.Sc with 5+ years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting in the application of biomarkers in clinical trials.

  • Knowledge of biomarker assays, technologies and platforms, including their application in clinical research.

  • Experienced in biomarker discovery/ development, in a clinical setting

  • Experience working in matrixed, multidisciplinary team environments.

  • Demonstrated scientific expertise evidenced by publications, presentations, or research reports shared with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Knowledge and track-record of working to GCP/GLP principles

  • Having a strong sense of urgency and excellent skills in prioritization, planning as well as timely execution in a very fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a matrix environment

  • Dependable and trustworthy, willing to take ownership and responsibility

  • Experience in conducting biomarker analyses on various clinical sample types and working as part of a clinical study team.

This role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days per week onsite at a GSK office in the United States.

The US annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $144,750 to $241,250 The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
