The Role:

At FanDuel, Associate Data Engineers are part of the Data Platform which enables the organisation to deliver high-quality data pipelines that power our critical products and business decisions. You'll work under the guidance of senior engineers and collaborate with analysts, product managers, and data teams across the organization to build, maintain, and support reliable data systems.

We are looking for a highly motivated Associate Data Engineer who is enthusiastic about learning and contributing to a fast-paced, data-driven environment. What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in building and maintaining streaming and real-time data pipelines using modern data tools and cloud platforms
  • Monitor internal dashboards and communication channels to help identify and escalate production issues
  • Manage data serving channels using an API first strategy, and the infrastructure that powers them
  • Respond to basic support requests from data engineering and software engineering teams related to data access, anomalies, and performance questions
  • Support the resolution of data quality issues, working with senior engineers to identify root causes
  • Help create and maintain documentation for architectural frameworks, processes, pipelines, systems, and troubleshooting steps
  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and technical project managers to ensure smooth operations and successful delivery of features
  • Participate in team meetings and code reviews to learn engineering best practices and contribute to technical quality
  • Help identify opportunities to improve data quality, consistency, or automation within assigned tasks.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for working with data and solving technical challenges
  • Foundational experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) and willingness to upskill
  • Foundational experience with building APIs and monitoring/maintaining their infrastructure
  • Familiarity with data warehouses and/or cloud platforms such as AWS and Databricks
  • Basic understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data ingestion techniques
  • Willingness to learn about distributed data technologies such as Spark
  • Good communication and collaboration skills with s  trong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset – you’re eager to develop your skills and try new tools
  • Excellent command of English

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) or monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog and Monte Carlo)
  • Experience with Delta Lake, Lakebase
  • Familiarity with Git or CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
