Associate Cleanroom Engineer

United Integrated Services (USA) Corp. was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2020. UIS is a U.S. subsidiary of United Integrated Services Co., Ltd. (UIS Taiwan) which was founded in Taiwan in 1982. UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company. We provide fully integrated design-build services to our clients in the high-technology industry for their manufacturing facility needs. Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.

 

Summary: 

As an Associate Cleanroom Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our cleanroom facilities operate smoothly and adhere to strict cleanliness and safety protocols. In this role, you will assist with managing subcontractor communication, providing overall directions for protocols and inspections, meeting deadlines and diminishing the need for rework. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter that can ensure client expectations are met in a timely manner.

Experience in Cleanroom construction is highly desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in the implementation and enforcement of cleanroom protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of cleanroom areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleanroom supplies, including gloves, gowns, masks, and cleaning agents.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization tasks within the cleanroom environment, following established protocols.
  • Lead in the training of cleanroom personnel on proper protocol adherence and safety procedures.
  • Respond to and address any protocol deviations or cleanliness issues promptly and effectively.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate cleanroom activities and support overall operational efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams daily.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of cleanroom activities, inspections, and inventory levels.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

 Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 0-3+ years of professional work experience
  • Previous experience working in a cleanroom environment or similar controlled environment preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, safety regulations, and cleanliness standards.
  • Understanding of cleanroom classifications (ISO 5–8, FED STD 209E) and contamination control principles
  • Familiarity with gowning procedures, material flow, personnel flow, and air shower/airlock protocols
  • Basic knowledge of semiconductor construction processes (e.g., tool install, process piping, chemical delivery, cleanroom fit out)
  • Awareness of TSMC site rules, LOTO, and safety protocols
  • Ability to identify contamination sources such as particulates, epoxy, adhesive residue, oil leaks, and construction debris
  • Ability to perform routine cleanroom protocol audits and checklist inspections
  • Skilled in detecting protocol violations (e.g., PPE, material control, floor protection, traffic flow, work sequencing)
  • Competent in monitoring contractors’ compliance with housekeeping standards and contamination control requirements
  • Experience reviewing photo evidence, inspection records, punch lists, and issuing corrective actions
  • Strong skills in daily reporting, inspection logs, and cleanroom audit documentation
  • Ability to maintain detailed records for compliance and QA/QC traceability
  • Competence in using project management tools:
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Autodesk Build (BIM 360), PlanGrid, or similar platforms
  • Capable of preparing cleanroom readiness reports before major milestones (e.g., detail clean, certification, TI handover)

Language Proficiency:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, preferred.

Nice to have:

  • Start-up experience.
  • Verbal communication skills in Mandarin.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for transporting documents, equipment, and other materials as needed. The role involves extended periods standing, walking and/or of sitting while working at a computer. Frequent movement between the construction trailer and various areas of the construction site is necessary.

The position is based at the construction job site (trailer office).  Even though the exposure of hazardous work conditions would be minimal, the employee may be required to visit the work area of the jobsite and thus be exposed to some typical work hazards that may be present on a construction site, such as dust, moving machineries, weather, caustic chemicals, noise etc. UIS would provide the required safety protection to ensure the safety of UIS employees and comply with all OSHA standards.
