Job Overview:

The Detroit Tigers are seeking seasonal Assistants to support the Amateur Scouting department in its preparation for the 2026 Rule IV Draft. This position will assist scouts and crosscheckers in multiple aspects of scouting, maintain an internal scouting database, and work closely with other departments throughout Baseball Operations.

Core Responsibilities

The Amateur Scouting Seasonal Assistant is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality assurance & organization for the department. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Assist department personnel in organizing events and meetings, creating team and stat sheets for scouts, and tracking scouting coverage throughout the year.
  •  Manage prospect profiles within internal database: video editing and uploading, compile statistics of draft-eligible players, continually update player biographical information, and prospect catalogue questionnaires.
  • Assist with pre-draft workouts, periodic scouting coverage opportunities, data collection and quality control, high-speed video acquisition and editing, and perform other ad hoc duties, as assigned.

This position will gain valuable exposure to not only the Amateur Scouting department, but will also regularly collaborate with the Player Development, Analytics, and Performance Science departments.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • The ideal candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Time management, organization skills, and the ability to collaborate with others are prerequisites for this position.
  • The ideal candidate must have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • The ideal candidate must be available full-time, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong passion for the game of baseball, and desire to learn from & support others.

Position Information

  • This position will work in an office environment in Lakeland, FL. 
  • Some evening, weekend, and holiday hours will be required.
  • This position will begin in early January and run through November.
