What You Will Do

The Direct, Indirect procurement and market intelligence Associate Director will be part of the P&WC supply management organization a team of Direct (for P&WC) and Indirect Procurement team in India (at PW India level) to manage supplier activities and material flow to ensure timely deliveries and quality for P&WC needs. He will ensure adherence to P&WC processes and accelerate people development and consolidated synergies and cost / productive improvement in the overall activities.

The Candidate will report to jointly to the PW India Leader and the VP of supply management and will work along the Director of Strategic Sourcing; Transitions in addition will work closely with Pratt & Whitney’s Global Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing & Transitions teams (located in the United States, Canada and Poland) and leading the Indirect Procurement activities with local and Global vendor efforts in India. He will also be responsible for overseeing the gathering and assessment of Market intelligence and contribute to India sourcing strategy.

This regionally deployed team will help accelerate Pratt & Whitney’s efforts in improving product cost, supplier performance and security capacity to meet its program and customer needs.

Specific responsibilities of position:

In his function the Associate Director will lead teams of Procurement (Direct) for P&WC, Indirect procurement for all PW India Businesses (Commercial Engine; Engineering; Digital and Supply chain) and lead India Market Intelligence on the sourcing activities.

The Direct & Indirect Procurement Associate Director must demonstrate an advanced understanding of Pratt & Whitney's quality, resourcing and supply chain and Indirect procurement strategy and processes. The Candidate plays a key role in interfacing RTX internal and external customers. This person possesses the appropriate skills to develop and foster positive working relationships while maintaining customer and organizational priorities. The Candidate positions P&W to succeed by developing and executing along with the team and lead the direct and Indirect Procurement activities.

This role will work collaboratively with the following teams:

The Strategic Sourcing team will work closely with their global counterparts and are responsible for all aspects of the commercial, risk mitigation and sourcing strategy for the commodities under his/her leadership

The Transitions team will work closely with their global counterparts and are responsible for all aspects of work transfers.

The Manufacturing Engineering team will work closely with their global counterparts and are responsible for all aspects of supplier and/or product development.

Direct Procurement activities:

The Direct Procurement Leader will be responsible for a team responsible for developing and executing procurement activities for P&WC – Supply Chain Management: Material Planning | Indirect Procurement | BPM | Support & Analytics. This team is already existing team size of 150+ People and have been processing operations activities for PW Canada for the past couple of years. Providing the overall strategic direction; and ensure that the customer commitments are met working closely with the Internal and external Client base in Canada and other parts of the world.

Indirect Procurement activities:

The Indirect Procurement Leader will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies across all indirect categories — including IT, HR, Facilities, Travel, Professional Services, and Capex-related services — to ensure cost optimization, supplier performance, and compliance with company policies.

This role requires a strategic business partner who collaborates across functions to drive savings, efficiency, and sustainability in indirect spend management.

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership Develop and implement category management strategies for indirect spend areas aligned with global and regional business goals. Partner with functional leaders (Finance, HR, IT, Admin, Legal, BD and so on) to identify sourcing opportunities and deliver value beyond cost savings. Lead negotiations, contract management, and supplier performance improvement initiatives. Drive supplier diversity, sustainability, and digital procurement practices
  • Spend Management & Cost Optimization Manage total indirect procurement spend (typically >100 Cr Annually). Achieve annual cost-reduction and value-creation targets through strategic sourcing, demand management, and supplier collaboration. Benchmark pricing and service levels to industry standards and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Governance, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure all procurement activities comply with corporate governance, legal, and ethical standards. Manage procurement documentation, vendor onboarding, and supplier risk assessments. Collaborate with finance and internal audit to maintain strong process controls and reporting integrity.
  • Supplier & Contract Management Build long-term relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuous improvement, innovation, and reliability. Oversee supplier performance metrics (SLAs, KPIs, service quality, and delivery). Lead periodic vendor business reviews and contract renewals.
  • People Leadership & Collaboration Lead and mentor a team of category managers, buyers, and analysts. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Drive the adoption of digital tools such as SAP Ariba / Coupa / Jaggaer / Oracle Procurement Cloud for automation and analytics.

Key Interfaces

Internal: Finance, Legal, HR, IT, Digital; Administration, Engineering, and Senior Leadership Teams.

External: Vendors, Strategic Suppliers, Consultants, and Industry Networks.

Market Intelligence Activities:

The Market Intelligence (MI) Lead will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting actionable intelligence on global and regional supply chain dynamics relevant to the engine manufacturing ecosystem. This includes insights on suppliers, raw materials, geopolitical developments, cost structures, industry capacity, and emerging technologies to enable strategic sourcing and risk mitigation decisions.

  • Market & Supplier Intelligence Conduct in-depth research on global and regional suppliers in precision machining, castings, forgings, coatings, and additive manufacturing. Build supplier capability and capacity databases across key commodities and geographies. Analyze supplier financial health, ownership, and strategic partnerships. Track M&A activity, investments, and policy changes in the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Commodity and Cost Analysis Monitor commodity price trends (Nickel, Titanium, Cobalt, etc.) and forecast potential impacts on engine manufacturing costs. Support should-cost modelling and benchmark pricing through market inputs. Develop reports on regional cost competitiveness, including labor, logistics, and energy costs.
  • Geopolitical & Risk Insights Assess supply chain vulnerabilities due to trade restrictions, tariffs, sanctions, and geopolitical shifts (e.g., US-China, EU regulations, Indian manufacturing policy). Develop country and supplier risk heat maps for key sourcing regions. Partner with risk and compliance teams to align intelligence with business continuity plans.
  • Technology & Industry Trends Track emerging technologies (AI in manufacturing, automation, sustainability trends, additive manufacturing, etc.) relevant to the engine component supply chain. Benchmark competitor sourcing strategies and localization initiatives. Provide insights into government incentives and policies (PLI schemes, Make in India, Defence offsets, etc.).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Permitted to Live and Work in India
  • Education & Experience: B.E / B. Tech (Mechanical/ Industrial management) or Similar / University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 – 15 years prior relevant experience, or Masters / M. Tech in a related field and minimum 10 - 12 years’ experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions in Aerospace & Defense Industry or Similar Allied Industries
  • Proven experience in managing multiple indirect categories and leading large supplier negotiations.
  • Exposure to global procurement systems and cross-functional collaboration
  • Proven track record of successfully managing sourcing projects and delivering cost savings.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
