Marymount Hospital's Emergency Department provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, for patients of all ages. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is looking to start their nursing career at Cleveland Clinic and work in a supportive and caring environment. As Assistant Nurse Manager, you will support the nurse manager by providing clinical supervision and unit coordination. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of ambulatory procedural settings caring for hospitalized patients.
- Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in procedural settings to ensure quality of care.
- Anticipate and resolve patient care issues.
- Ensure continuity of patient care by actively participating in and facilitating communication and collaboration among and between department staff and other departments re: operational issues.
- Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
- Provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned unit/area.
- Counsel employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, collaborates in monitoring attendance issues.
- Alert Nurse Manager of significant clinical or other performance issues.
- Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees.
- Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
- Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures.
- Monitor daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics (patient flow, staffing, supplies, etc.).
- Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.
- Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
- Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Crodd
- Two years of clinical experience
- Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
- Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
