JOB TITLE: Assistant Manager, Data Management Reporting and Automation

SALARY: £43,803 - £48,670

LOCATION(S): Bristol, Leeds, Halifax

HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least

two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

As an Assistant Manager in Data Management Reporting and Automation, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our automation and reporting capabilities. Working closely with colleagues and supporting the Manager, you will help enhance data management processes through scalable reporting solutions, embed automation into workflows, and ensure alignment with the Group’s Data & AI Strategy.

This role sits within the Data Management team, part of our Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO). Guided by a clear Data & AI Strategy, Data Management is a key pillar of our vision for LBG to lead the market in modern, effective approaches to managing data—championing federated models and automation of controls.

The Data Management AI, Automation and Reporting team drives the integration of artificial intelligence and automation into data management practices. Our mission is to deliver predictive insights, optimise and automate reporting processes, and embed ethical innovation—creating scalable, trusted data solutions aligned with CDAO and Group-wide Data and Technology objectives.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Day to day, you will:

  • Turn Business Requirements into Decision Intelligence
    Transform complex requirements into actionable insights and compelling data stories that influence senior decision-making.

  • Own the Data Management Metrics Engine and Real-Time Insight Pipelines
    Deliver Data Management–wide metrics for executive committees and design automated reporting pipelines that provide instant, self-serve access to critical information.

  • Scale Reporting and Process Automation
    Champion initiatives that streamline and automate recurring reporting processes within Data Management, driving efficiency and freeing the team to focus on high-impact analytics.

  • Integrate ML-Powered Reporting Products that Anticipate Needs
    Develop intelligent reporting dashboards that integrate advanced analytics and machine learning to optimise workflows and enable proactive, data-driven decision-making.

  • Elevate Standards Through Governance & Collaboration
    Ensure reporting solutions are robust and reliable, maintain best-practice documentation, and partner with SMEs to embed automation and innovation across data workflows.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

We like people who come from diverse but relevant industry backgrounds, however as a minimum to be considered you’ll have the following:

  • Prior good experience in Data Management roles with good knowledge of Data Management principles and practices

  • Familiarity with Collibra and other data management tools for metadata management, data quality, and governance.

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship skills with the confidence to challenge where appropriate and working knowledge of Jira.

  • A passion for continuous improvement, automation and efficient processes

  • The confidence to ask questions and ability to challenge established processes

  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly BigQuery for data warehousing and analytics

  • Skilled in building data pipelines and automating workflows for efficient data processing.

  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI for creating interactive dashboards and insightful reports.

  • Ability to design and optimise data models for performance and scalability

  • Experience with advanced analytics tool, such as Python, is a bonus

  • Good understanding of AI/ML frameworks

  • Hands-on experience with Power Automate or other automation tools to streamline business processes.

And any experience of these would be really useful:  

  • Strong written and verbal skills and colleagues who enjoy problem-solving with data and deliver outcomes and outputs at pace.

  • Feel confident working independently, managing your own tasks with little supervision, and taking initiative.
