A Glimpse of the Job
The Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations leads the daily operations of KAMU’s membership services. This role is pivotal in supporting fundraising and membership goals by managing data integrity, donor stewardship, financial processing, and customer service. As a front-line leader, the employee ensures seamless donor experience, oversees accurate gift processing, and collaborates across departments and vendor partnerships. The position also aids in grant writing to support funding initiatives.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Member services & donor relations
Oversee customer service operations including email, phone and vendor-initiated inquiries
Resolve complex donor issues (e.g., thank-you gifts, tax receipts, program guides)
Prepare and distribute new member welcome packages working with KAMU marketing representative
Fundraising & Stewardship
Collaborate with colleagues and vendors to enhance donor recognition efforts
Utilize CRM and donor database tools to support stewardship communications
Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events and on-air campaigns
Gift processing & financial reporting
Manage timely deposit, secure data entry, gift processing and IRS-compliant receipting
Process matching gifts, stock donations, bequests, transfers and refunds
Prepare monthly revenue, expense and reconciliation reports; assist with audits
Secure grants from foundation, government agencies and other institutions
Management
Responsible for the supervision, performance management and workflow coordination of the Administrative Coordinator
Supervise and evaluate staff, students and volunteers involved in data entry and customer service
Cross train team members in database operations and donor support procedures
Database Management
Ensure accurate donor data through hygiene reviews and process improvements
Collaborate with financial and business services to support reconciliation and reporting
Maintain consistency and accuracy in donor records and transactions
Analyze donor data and fundraising trends to refine strategies, ensuring efforts are efficient and aligned with supporter interests
Policy & Compliance
Adhere to IRS, Texas A&M University Advancement and industry best practices in gift acceptance and receipting
Document and update policies and procedures to improve efficiency and donor experience

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional training in a related field
6 years of directly related experience in financial services
Preferred Qualifications
Background in public media or nonprofit development
Familiarity with IRS regulations for charitable giving and university advancement policies
Understanding of public broadcasting funding models and donor relations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong proficiency in donor databases and CRM systems
Experience in financial tracking, reporting and reconciliation
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and project management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
