Assistant Director of Financial Aid

The USC Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid, with an anticipated start date to be determined in January 2026.  The position will manage our financial aid process for USC Mann and all its programs, including the PharmD, Master's, and PhD students.   The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a member of a team, have strong presentation skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Position summary:

  • In collaboration with the Financial Aid Office at UPC and the Director of Enrollment Management at USC Mann, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid will manage the Financial Aid process for all graduate and professional students at USC Mann.
  • Working closely with the Director of Enrollment Management, the Assistant Director of Financial Aid will ensure all scholarships for USC Mann students are added to their package in a timely manner and work closely with Student Affairs to ensure all students are eligible for their scholarships to be renewed based on the scholarship policies and guidelines.
  • Serve on the Scholarship Awards committee.
  • Counsel student applicants on matters concerning financial aid packages.
  • Evaluates student problems and requests regarding financial aid awards and takes appropriate action.
  • Integrates financial aid counseling with student housing circumstances, academic goals, extracurricular plans, and career objectives.
  • Provides training and guidance on financial aid policies and procedures as needed to support the operation. 
  • Handles complex financial aid packaging and appeals.
  • Reviews student applications for consistency and completeness, verifies the accuracy of student-reported information, and certifies applications.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough file documentation.
  • Advises students regarding financial planning, budgeting, and debt management.
  • Monitors local financial aid budgets and scholarship awards.
  • Conduct seminars and workshops as needed, working closely with the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs.
  • Processes student appeals by reevaluating student aid packages and making award modifications as appropriate and within applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Serves as liaison on financial aid with USC Mann and the UPC Financial Aid Office.
  • Provides interpretation of financial aid policies and assists in problem-solving.
  • Assists in updating university publications and website materials as they relate to financial aid.
  • Maintains currency on financial aid packages, state and federal regulations related to financial aid, and university policies and procedures.
  • Participation in committees as needed.
  • Works closely with leadership to complete surveys and provide reports on loans, scholarships, and other financial aid-related numbers as needed. 
  • Required participation in events to support team members in the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs, including interview days, information sessions, orientation, graduation ceremony, white coat ceremony, career day, internship fair, and others as needed. 
  • Support other members of the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Previous experience in financial aid.
  • Counseling skills experience.
  • SIS experience preferred (student information system at USC)
  • Strong technology background preferred.

The hourly pay range for this position is $34.35 - $40.00.
