As part of our Asset Delivery team, we’re looking for a talented and motivated individual to help us shape the next chapter of water management in the East of England.
Your Purpose
As an Assistant Commissioning Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient commissioning of new water and water recycling assets. Working alongside experienced Commissioning Engineers, you’ll help ensure our treatment plants and systems perform reliably from day one—proving their capability before being handed over to operations.
This is an exciting development opportunity for someone looking to build a career in commissioning, with structured support, training, and progression into a full Commissioning Engineer position.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this hands-on role, you will:
Assist in planning and carrying out commissioning activities for new water and water recycling projects.
Support the development of key commissioning documentation, including plans, test procedures, and reports.
Help optimise water and water recycling processes during start-up and testing phases.
Participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, control system verification, and functional testing.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, seamless integration of new assets into live operational networks.
Contribute to risk assessments and impact plans to safeguard supply continuity and water quality.
Support the handover process to ensure new assets are fully tested, documented, and ready for reliable operation.
About You
You’ll ideally bring:
A recognised M&E apprenticeship and/or a Level 3 (ONC or BTEC) or HNC qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
A valid UK driving licence (essential).
Familiarity with electrical systems, MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation, and process control (desirable).
Experience or understanding of water or water recycling operations (desirable).
You’ll be a strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively across technical teams. You’ll take pride in problem solving, be open to learning new skills, and be confident taking ownership of your work. Adaptable and practical, you’ll bring enthusiasm and curiosity to a fast-paced engineering environment.
