Assistant Coach, Beach Volleyball

Position Details

The Athletic Department at The University of Tampa has an opening for an Assistant Coach, Beach Volleyball. This position will assist the head coach with organization, development, and implementation of a nationally competitive beach volleyball program.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with daily operations such as practice planning, skill instruction, and game preparation.  Must be able to handle 8-10 athletes per court - executing drills and modifying based on athlete caliber.  Design and implement on-sand conditioning program.  Be available for extra reps and video sessions outside of normal practice times.

  • Recruiting prospective student-athletes, attend coaching clinics, recruiting showcases/tournaments, evaluating talent, and maintaining compliance with NCAA recruiting regulations.  Includes making regular scheduled calls and sending emails to selected recruits.  Be available for campus tours and meeting with recruits when head coach is not able to attend.

  • Monitoring academic progress and ensuring eligibility of student-athletes in collaboration with academic support staff.  Work with our academic mentors to monitor grades and academic progress of the student-athletes throughout the year.

  • Scouting opponents, analyzing game film, and contributing to strategic planning.  Aid and run short video sessions to prepare teams for upcoming matches.

  • Coordinating team logistics, including travel, equipment, and facilities scheduling.  Be able to drive rental vans to away matches if needed.  Be the point person for making food arrangements pre- match and post-match days.  Assist in home tournament setup and take down.

  • Promoting student-athlete development through mentorship, emphasizing academics, character, and community engagement.

  • Participating in fundraising, community outreach, and departmental meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of all aspects of coaching

  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office

  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

  • Must pass NCAA education modules.

  • CPR/AED certification

Work Schedule

Full Time Monday - Friday.

Must be willing to work irregular hours including select evenings, weekends, and Holidays.
