About the Opportunity

We invite applications for a 52-week non-tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate rank within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. This faculty member has the opportunity to work closely with an interdisciplinary team of professionals throughout the School and University and across the Northeastern University Global Network. Preferred contemporary expertise includes pediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, and motor control. A strong candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach appropriate handling techniques, facilitation strategies, and clinical reasoning for movement analysis and intervention selection. 

 

New faculty will be mentored by leadership and senior faculty for career advancement and professional development. In addition, a strong and effective faculty development strategy is part of the Northeastern institutional mission. The ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development office works in conjunction with the Office of Research Development (ORD), the Office of Belonging at Northeastern Office, the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research (CATLR), and University Decision Support (UDS) to provide programs and training to further develop and support a thriving faculty. 

 

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the 52-week position will include teaching courses within the Department of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, and the Human Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences master’s program. Overall, these individuals are expected to develop curriculum materials, engage in scholarship, offer continuing education, and participate in departmental, college, university and professional service. The ideal candidate must have expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with global student populations.

Foster external relationships that are beneficial to the program and/or that inform program development, including with professional associations, clinical placements, guest lecturers, industry leaders or program advisory board members, alums, potential donors, and partner institutions for prospective applicants to the program.  

Additionally, will represent the program at department, college, and university events that relate to the viability and success of the program, such as open houses, convocation, commencement, and faculty meetings.  

Qualifications

A successful applicant must have the following qualifications: 

  • Hold an active, or able to obtain an unrestricted PT license in the state of Massachusetts. 

  • Hold or have advanced enrollment in a terminal degree program (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.) 

  • Holding one of the following ABPTS certifications is preferred: (a) Pediatric Certified Specialist (PCS), (b) Neurologic Certified Specialist (NCS), or (c) Sports Certified Specialist (SCS).

  • Engagement in scholarship related to areas of clinical expertise or education is preferred

  • Appointment at Associate Rank requires a minimum of three years of experience in higher education teaching is preferred and evidence of scholarship agenda, including peer-reviewed publications.

Please summarize your past instructional and mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring global student populations.

Pay Range:

52-week Salary Ranges: Assistant Clinical Professor: $89,000.00 - $112,000.00 | Associate Clinical Professor: $105,000.00 - $127,000.00

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
