What you’ll do
As the Area Manager, you lead with a clear, engaging and aspirational vision for your area and develop strategies that enable multiple branded stores in an Area to achieve performance targets, maximise sales and service opportunities and drive new business.
The Retail Area Manager will be accountable for the following Telstra retail Store locations: Kadina, Marion, Adelaide, Renmark, Port Pirie, Whyalla, Victor Harbour, Colonnades, and Port Lincoln. The role requires the successful candidate to be in Adelaide, South Australia.
Please note that this is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.
This is how you'll bring the purpose of your role to life across the portfolio of stores in your Area:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and deliver business plan initiatives to meet and achieve targets for each half of the financial year.
- Manage and monitor growth, sales, expenses, inventory, and results, identify and address any performance gaps, and report on store performance in line with the established reporting cadence
- Manage profitability and contribution against budget at both a store and area level, proactively identifying and addressing any gaps.
Operational
- Monitor and investigate compliance against central operating standards and processes, conduct regular audits, and manage performance to drive consistency and improve operational excellence.
- Drive effective implementation of the agreed customer sales model along with other Telstra Retail wide change/launch activities.
- Maintain a visitation schedule that enables you to spend the majority of your time in stores, focusing on people development, store performance and compliance, and Doing Good Business Responsibly.
Market leadership
- Drive market administration including Out of Lease Line activity, local community engagement, media and marketing, win back and other specific campaign targets
- Support national marketing campaigns at local level, using your understanding of the local market to plan and execute variations (e.g. store design and visual merchandising) that maximise performance.
- Build local relationships and involvement as required to become embedded in local communities and support brand engagement activities.
People Management
- Guide, coach and mentor your Store Managers on innovative, best practice methods to improve sales performance and drive profit while meeting customer needs.
- Promote staff development through training, cross-training, and ongoing career planning, including ongoing sales and product service training to meet business and customer needs.
- Recruit store managers, and support them in undertaking their own recruitment activity, to attract the right talent and maintain the right workforce mix.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive People Leadership Experience in managing retail sales teams for multiple sites
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to filter and prioritize information received from the senior management team and deliver the information to teams clearly
- Strong business planning and business partnering skills
- Demonstrated experience with managing complex matters and delivering effective outcomes
- Strong sense of self awareness and mature resilience skills
- Ability to identify business problems and translate them into solutions to improve customer experience, productivity etc.
- Team orientated with strong interpersonal skills
