Your New Role

The Warner Bros. Discovery Global Media Archives is dedicated to collecting, curating, and exhibiting digital and physical assets created by our productions and other business units. The Archivist is responsible for the inventory and cataloging of our collections, curating exhibitions, and supporting events held as part of the marketing of our original productions.

The Archivist often works individually with little supervision on assigned projects at the direction of the Manager of Archives or at the request of the Director of Archives.  The Archivist may perform basic preservation practices including the selection of items for conservation/restoration, assist in developing archive documentation and procedures, and perform research and answer reference questions about the collection.

Your Role Accountabilities

  • Extracts and processes original productions collections, including the inventory and cataloging of assets; executes exhibition and event planning requests, including asset selection, packing, shipping, set up, and then return of Archive assets.
  • Performs preservation tasks related to the care and maintenance of Archive objects, such as re-housing, and identifies conservation concerns for special handling.
  • Maintains Archive databases and works closely with our Data Services team to improve record-keeping and user searches.
  • Photographs, scans, digitizes, or ingests assets and images into Archive asset management systems.
  • Trains student interns and temporary staff on Archive collections projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2 years of experience processing special collections in a corporation, archive, or library environment.

  • Bachelors or Masters in Archive Science, Museum Studies, or related experience in an archives, preferred
  • Excellent written and communication skills with vendors, partners, and staff
  • Working knowledge of archival cataloging and descriptive standards
  • Working knowledge of preservation standards for archive or museum collections
  • Experience processing multiple types of archival materials, including ephemera, digital media, textiles, mixed media, and paper records
  • Experience using & developing archives, museum, or library collection management systems, SOPs, RFPs, and POs
  • Experience assessing and conserving unique physical art assets
  • Knowledge of art and other media restoration and stabilization practices
  • Experience managing and executing collection audits
  • Experience working with digital assets, including transformation and management software
  • Knowledge of film & television history, production design, art history, costume design, and entertainment media
  • Knowledge of Warner Bros., New Line, HBO, TBS, and Discovery Original Programming, character names, artists, and performers
  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently and in groups, and ability to prioritize complex tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to anticipate daily workload expectations and meet and maintain weekly project deadlines
  • Experience handling unique and fragile materials
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to new processes and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to travel

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $46,898.00 - $87,096.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
