Tessera is seeking a dependable, safety focused Aquatic Maintenance Lead to serve as the technical lead for USAFA pools and aquatics systems. The Lead will perform hands-on MEP troubleshooting and repairs, manage CMMS/IoT work orders and preventive maintenance, mentor and train technicians in technical skills and safety, enforce public health standards, and coordinate repairs, upgrades, and vendors to ensure reliable, code compliant aquatic facilities.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead daily operations and preventative maintenance of all pools, spas, and water‑treatment systems, including pumps, filters, chemical feeders, heaters, and pool automation.

  • Monitor and manage pool water chemistry and sanitation; perform routine testing, adjustments, and recordkeeping to meet health code standards.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues affecting aquatic systems; coordinate or perform corrective work to restore service quickly.

  • Supervise, train, and mentor technicians and seasonal staff on maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and CMMS workflows.

  • Create, assign, and close work orders and PMs in the CMMS (e.g., Maximo); maintain accurate asset records, parts inventory, and maintenance logs.

  • Conduct regular inspections, identify deterioration or safety hazards, and recommend or schedule repairs and reliability improvements.

  • Coordinate with base facilities, engineers, public health, and contractors to schedule outages, installations, and capital work with minimal disruption.

  • Respond to service emergencies, pool incidents, and after‑hours issues as required, ensuring safety and rapid resolution.

  • Enforce OSHA, USAFA, and public health safety standards; maintain PPE, fall protection, and confined space best practices.

  • Oversee and perform glycol system management, including monitoring, testing, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance, safety, and environmental compliance.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3–5 years of pool/aquatics maintenance experience with MEP troubleshooting (pumps, filtration, chemical feed, HVAC, plumbing, electrical)

  • Experience managing water chemistry and compliance with state/local health codes.

  • CMMS experience (Maximo preferred) or demonstrable ability to use computerized work order systems.

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or equivalent preferred

  • HVACR, electrical, plumbing, or manufacturer installer certifications preferred

  • OSHA 10/30; fall protection training preferred

  • HAZMAT/HAZCOM (29CFR 1910.100) training preferred

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
