Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Manager located in Midland, MI.

The Analytical Manager will work across multiple manufacturing labs across the site/hub or region using process chemistry and analytical knowledge, in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge and lab operations experience to identify, develop and implement optimum analytical solutions in support of process and product performance as well as Quality Control Lab improvements.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Promote the use of the Analytical Work Process (AWP), and EH&S and ODMS procedure and practices
  • Provide analytical expertise to resolve analytical issues
  • Provide problem solving support to eliminate laboratory related quality incidents and quality work process failures
  • Implement most effective technology (MET) and laboratory improvements per the Site Analytical Strategy
  • Regularly interact with internal customers
  • Lead root cause investigations related to analytical per cGMP requirements
  • Monitor and improve analytical system performance and capability
  • Develop response plans for non-routine analytical requests
  • Perform complex analyses, and interpret and report analytical data
  • Evaluate validity of data, apply statistics, interpret results and take appropriate action in close cooperation with other functions
  • Lead instrument qualification and method transfer
  • Train and coach others on analytical systems and technology, and laboratory cGMP requirements
  • Network with other technical personnel to share analytical process and product technology and leverage problem solving and problem prevention expertise

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Bachelor's of Science degree is required.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a lab is required. 
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulatory controls and requirements applicable to the manufacture of cGMP a plus. 
  • Practical knowledge of statistical data analysis is also beneficial.
  • Prior experience with Sample Manager, LIMS, etc.

  • Laboratory Analytical Techniques: Analytical technique is a method that is used to determine a chemical or physical property of a chemical substance, chemical element, or mixture. There are a wide variety of techniques used for analysis, from simple weighing to titrations (titrimetric) to very advanced techniques using highly specialized instrumentation.
  • Analytical Chemistry:  Analytical chemistry studies and uses instruments and methods used to separate, identify, and quantify matter. In practice, separation, identification or quantification may constitute the entire analysis or be combined with another method.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:  Stakeholder engagement is the process by which an organization involves people who may be affected by the decisions it makes or can influence the implementation of its decisions. They may support or oppose the decisions, be influential in the organization or within the community in which it operates, hold relevant official positions or be affected in the long term.
  • Project Management:  Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals within the given constraints. This information is usually described in project documentation, created at the beginning of the development process. The primary constraints are scope, time, budget. The secondary challenge is to optimize the allocation of necessary inputs and apply them to meet pre-defined objectives.
  • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS):  A laboratory information management system (LIMS) is a software-based solution with features that support a modern laboratory's operations. Key features include workflow and data tracking support, flexible architecture, and data exchange interfaces, which fully support its use in regulated environments.
