The Role:

M&G Impact & Private Equity is an investment division of M&G Investments which includes over 40 professionals that manage $15 billion in assets globally across three dedicated investment teams, including Private Equity, Real Assets and Catalyst, and several functional specialist teams, including Portfolio Management, Operational Due Diligence, Sustainability, and Product.

The M&G Private Equity team manages a portfolio of over $7 billion, which is invested in over 300 funds across more than 100 private equity managers globally through primary funds, co-investments, and secondaries. Investments are typically made from a combination of closed-ended fund-of-funds, open-ended semi-liquid funds, and our internal accounts.

The M&G Private Equity team is looking to hire a Senior Associate or Associate Director of Private Equity to support the investment team in sourcing, underwriting and managing its investments in primary funds and co-investments. For this role, these investments will typically be in, or alongside, mid-market buyout funds in Europe and North America (and opportunistically in Asia). The role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract in order to provide maternity coverage for an existing investment professional.

Key Responsibilities for this Role:

  • The primary responsibility will be to work within the private equity investment team in underwriting new primary fund commitments and co-investments, which will include due diligence, market research, financial analysis and modelling, and drafting investment memorandum.
  • This role will require the monitoring and managing of existing portfolio investments and providing reports and updates on performance to senior management and investors.
  • This role will also include marketing-related activities and market research to support the needs of the investment team and programme.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in private equity and/or private markets is preferrable.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical competence to interpret complex information to support effective decision-making, including financial modelling capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation and externally.
  • A conscientious manner, self-starter with good attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organised, proactive, and intellectually curious, with the interpersonal skills to thrive in a dynamic team setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field, and working towards the CFA or a similar qualification is preferred.
