Key Responsibilities:
Process development of Optical Alignment process
Work closely with team members on optical design, automated jig/fixture design, debug and field-test for alignment software development
Contributes to failure mode analysis (FMA) and qualification of product, especially related to Alignment
Perform data analysis utilizing DOE, SPC, and FMEA tools regularly throughout product life cycle
Generates BOMs, assembly work instructions and engineering reports for new processes/products
Transfers processes to manufacturer sites primarily in Asia
Plan and execute on schemes to improve product yield and reliability
Recommends and executes qualification tests for new processes/products/components
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in optical, electrical, mechanical engineering or equivalent with 8+ years’ experience in optoelectronics
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
Experience in automated alignment and attach components with adhesives
Experience in automated machine, hardware and software
Experience in optical components, optical design and laser products
Experience in conceptual design layout, vendor interaction, package prototyping, testing, and performance characterization
Familiar with six-sigma techniques, e.g., design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), SPC, GR&R
Practical experience with affixing and detaching components with adhesives
Practical experience with machine vision processes, hardware, and software
Practical experience with robotic gripper processes, hardware, and software
Practical experience with pick and place automation processes
Practical experience with the assembly and test of free-space optical systems
Practical experience with software-source and application-version control (any application). Version control applies to process information and documentation.
Practical experience with tools to query, analyze and present data, such as Excel Pivots and Charts, JMP, Minitab, or Python.
