Job Summary: THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number T6001400 and is part of the CO 140 OG, National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • This position is located in an ANG Aviation Wing, Air Operations Division, Operations Support Branch, at an Air National Guard 140th Operations Group, Buckley AIR CO. The primary purpose of the position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trades and labor work of 1400SA transient Aircraft Maintenance. Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group. Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans. Accomplishes complex operations such as jacking aircraft and crash recovery methods and procedures. Sets up and operates large variety of powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment (AGE), such as auxiliary power units, deicers, runway sweepers, lav truck, air start units, nitro carts, LOX carts, and auxiliary heating and cooling units. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 1. Experience and knowledge will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position. 2. Must have experience or knowledge in each of the following: Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and reassembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
