Job Summary: THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (103d AMXS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Air National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Air National Guard.

Major Duties:

  • JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Coordinator, with responsibility for the overall maintenance effort on the flightline to include work operations performed by two or more distinct organizational units and controlled by a number of separate supervisors. The position does not have supervisory duties or responsibilities. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the total squadron maintenance program, manages the overall direction of the maintenance effort, and enforces safe maintenance practices. Participates in establishing the monthly and weekly maintenance plans. Controls and coordinates maintenance activity on the flightline. May be required to coordinate with supervisors to select workers and assign tasks to be performed. Understands, executes, and coordinates specific disaster control duties including the provisions contained Air Force instructions, with regard to movement of aircraft, support equipment, and evacuation of flightline personnel.

Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates your ability to preform the duties of the position. Experience using computers and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience, education or training program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the business or industry position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the maintenance, modification, and repair of various types of complex aviation components and equipment on a combat or strategic fixed wing aircraft. Knowledge of the activity, staff, support operations, manpower, equipment, supplies, and materials, etc., to develop short- and long-range plans and schedules of maintenance workloads. Knowledge, understanding, and use of aircraft equipment and components terminology, data, and standards, and how to relate them to needs of missions. Knowledge and experience to observe and analyze production operations to determine if schedules are being followed, improved, and to determine the causes of production delays. Knowledge of quality assurance sufficient to comply with Air Force directives and guidelines. Knowledge of Emergency War Order (EWO) and contingency plans to successfully accomplish aircraft generation. Knowledge of the pertinent directives to the function and established priorities based on scheduled inspections, equipment outages, mission requirements, and training schedules. Knowledge and in-depth understanding of the capabilities of equipment possessed and of the specialty shops, and all possible work sequences available in the production facility to ensure that all maintenance and production goals are attained expeditiously and economically with no degradation to the training or mission objectives.
