As an Artificial Intelligence Engineer on our defense technology team, you’ll develop AI solutions that enhance the national security mission.
In this role, you’ll own and define the direction of mission-critical solutions by implementing AI that enables faster mission success. You’ll be part of a large community of machine learning engineers across the company and collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, solutions architects, and product owners to deliver world-class solutions to implement a wide variety of AI use cases. Your skills and extensive technical expertise will guide clients as they navigate the landscape of ML algorithms, tools, and frameworks.

What You'll Work On:
Design and implement vector and graph database architectures to support AI model training, inference, and evaluation processes.
Develop and maintain data pipelines for AI ingestion, processing, and analysis workflows in AWS cloud environments.
Support continuous model training and evaluation processes through optimized data storage and retrieval systems.
Ensure database solutions maintain explainability and auditability requirements for AI models.
Implement and maintain database systems that support DoD AI ethical principles and compliance requirements.
Design, develop, and optimize vector databases for embedding storage, similarity search, and AI model support.
Build and maintain graph databases for complex relationship modeling and knowledge representation.
Develop ETL or ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data ingestion into vector and graph systems.
Implement database monitoring, performance tuning, and scalability solutions.
Create and maintain database documentation, schemas, and data governance protocols.

You Have:
5+ years of experience in database development and data engineering
3+ years of experience with vector databases or graph databases
2+ years of experience supporting AI or ML workloads and data pipelines
Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience with specialized vector search optimization techniques
Experience with real-time streaming and low-latency data systems
Experience in natural language processing or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
Knowledge of graph neural networks and graph-based machine learning
Top Secret clearance
Master's degree in a technical field
AWS or Security+ Certification
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
