Affordability Strategy and Governance Lead (Hybrid)

Role Summary

The Affordability Strategy and Governance Lead plays a critical role in managing and executing payment integrity strategies that improve outcomes, affordability, and the cost of care across Cigna Healthcare (CHC). This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare dynamics, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate insights into actionable plans. Success in this role demands strategic analysis, financial acumen, and experience within healthcare or payer organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Governance Support

  • Support development of affordability strategic initiatives aligned with CHC and enterprise goals.
  • Create strategic frameworks, business cases, and initiative roadmaps.
  • Conduct internal reviews and external market scans to identify trends, gaps, and innovation opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with clinical, product, data, analytics, and operations teams to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Represent Cost of Care and Payment Integrity strategy in cross-functional workgroups.
  • Develop executive-level communications to escalate key issues and opportunities.

Analysis & Insights

  • Analyze claims and operational data to identify trends and affordability opportunities.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights for payment and non-payment stakeholders.
  • Utilize tools like Excel, Tableau and Databricks to create dashboards, reports, and presentations.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations and updates on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MPH, MBA, MHA).
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years in healthcare strategy, financial operations, or related roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Word).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payer, provider, or integrated delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with trend analytics, population health strategies, or payment integrity.
  • Exposure to strategic planning, business case development, or healthcare innovation.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 76,400 - 127,300 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
