The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Advocacy Campaigns Manager is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and advocacy campaigns that elevate awareness, inspire action, and advance the organization’s legislative and policy priorities. This role leads high-impact campaigns that influence perception and mobilize audiences. Reporting to the Director of Advocacy Marketing & Communications, this role collaborates closely with the Government Affairs and Marketing teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and measurable results that strengthen WWP’s voice and impact. This position plays an instrumental part in redefining how our nation cares for veterans for generations to come, helping ensure WWP keeps its collective promise to those who have served.


 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, lead, and execute campaigns that maximize awareness of warrior needs and legislative priorities.

  • Build affinity, drive action, and communicate successes for key advocacy activities, such as bill campaigns, research launches, and more.

  • Establish and measure campaign goals; identify gaps, risks, and opportunities, and adjust strategies accordingly to achieve objectives.

  • Track, report, and optimize campaign outcomes and impact.

  • Collaborate with the Advocacy Communications Deputy Director to integrate communication recommendations into campaign plans.

  • Partner with the advocacy team to craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and drive engagement.

  • Monitor website content performance, contribute to SEO strategy, and maintain content as statuses change.

  • Manage and track all creative services requests to ensure a seamless workflow and on-time completion.

  • Oversee and support the growth of the advocacy communications team.

  • Understand, uphold, and enforce the WWP brand, messaging guidelines, and target audience standards.

  • Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Highly motivated, creative, and mission-driven leader with a passion for improving the lives of America’s post-9/11 veterans.

  • Proven experience developing, organizing, and managing marketing campaigns and events that achieve organization goals.

  • Strong understanding of established and emerging campaign tools, techniques, and best practices.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build effective relationships and networks at all levels to achieve common objectives.

  • Skilled at balancing high-level strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Adept at translating complex information into clear, compelling, and accessible messaging.

  • Expert in ensuring all communications align with brand voice, standards, and positioning.

  • Proficient in using marketing metrics, data analysis, and insights to measure results and drive continuous improvement.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to engage with diverse political perspectives while remaining neutral and mission focused.

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

  • Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in marketing, communications, public affairs, or a related field.

  • Three years of experience in advocacy, policy, and/or legislative affairs.

  • Three years of leadership experience.

  • Two years of experience developing and executing digital advocacy or social impact campaigns.

Preferences

  • Three years of experience working on Capitol Hill or with a federal agency.

  • Experience working in the nonprofit or veteran services sector.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, political science, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferences

  • Master’s degree in communications, marketing, business, political science, or related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment; temperature controlled.
