Position Summary

This position provides front-line office and telephone customer service support for the Health Center at Auraria's Front Desk and Communications Center, Health Information, MSU Denver Student Health Insurance, and Auraria Immunizations. Position provides customer service, scheduling of patients, directs questions to the appropriate resources, serves as a liaison to back office clinical personnel, answers phones, inputs data to the Health Center's electronic medical records data base, copies, files and verifies insurance coverage.

Duties/Responsibilities

CUSTOMER SERVICE & FRONT DESK AND COMMUNICATIONS CENTER

  • Provides patient care information over the telephone, through patient portal, or at front line operations based on established protocol and according to HIPAA and FERPA Laws.

  • Schedules patient appointments, including operation of telehealth system.

  • Confirms patient’s health insurance network, eligibility, and benefits and coordinates with Health Center Billing Department.

  • Engages as a liaison for students and patients with clinical providers, insurance providers, University and State officials.

  • Represents Health Center at Auraria, MSU Denver Student Health Insurance and Auraria Immunizations at campus outreach programs.

  • Welcomes guests and patients.

  • Establishes and maintains patient records.

  • Communicates with patients and clinical staff, including the use of secure electronic systems.

​​ INSURANCE AND IMMUNIZATION SUPPORT

  • Communicates University health insurance and immunization policies and procedures.

  • Provides customer service support for MSU Denver Student Health Insurance Department and Auraria Immunizations Department, as needed.

HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (HIM) - SECONDARY SUPPORT

  • Supports HIM with processing patient care referrals, as needed.

  • Supports HIM department with processing incoming and outgoing faxed documents, as needed.

  • Completes requests for disclosure of medical and mental health records according to HIPAA law and office protocols, as needed.

  • Completing requests for insurance prior authorization for medications and services, as needed.

  • Accurately documents all of the above processes according to office protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Administrative Assistant experience in a clinical front office setting.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Health Record system.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with health insurance eligibility and coverage verification

  • Experience with processing medical records requests or specialist referrals

Work Hours

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, Non-Exempt

  • Monday through Thursday 8 am - 5 pm & Friday 8 am - 3 pm

  • Evenings and Weekends: Rarely

  • This position is an on-campus position

  • Travel: N/A

Salary for Announcement

We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $50,900 - $58,000. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
