Responsible for the monthly accounting closing process and administrative accounting including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, property accounting, and purchasing functions. Responsible for controlling and maintaining the budgetary control functions relating to the Bank’s operating expenses and capital expenditures. Responsible for the continuous process improvement of Corporate Accounting operations to obtain optimal accuracy and efficiencies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                         

  • Supervises assigned employees, allocates work and makes decisions and recommendations involving employment, performance reviews, training and development, promotion and transfer.
  • Creates a work environment that fosters collaboration and engagement.
  • Designs, implements and maintains general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and budgeting systems and maintains related interfaces, controls and reports.
  • Responsible for the controls and performance of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and purchasing data and related activities.
  • Coordinates the annual budget process and related reporting.  Assists user departments with budget/forecast process development and coordinates the administration/reporting of actual relative to budgets/forecasts/plan.  Prepares variance analyses as required.
  • Responsible for regulatory reporting to the FHFA.
  • Manages the accounting activities related to the Bank’s owned building and its tenants.
  • Develops and maintains procedures regarding budgeting, capital expenditures, and expense accounting including keeping abreast of current FASB requirements.
  • Reports any non-compliance with GAAP to the Chief Accounting Officer and the Director of Internal Audit.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA required
  • 5-8 years of accounting experience required, preferably with a financial services institution including: Month end close, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Fixed Assets, Property Accounting, Reconciliations
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience preferred.

Work is performed in a temperature controlled office environment requiring little physical exertion.  The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.  Mental concentration, attention to detail and computer use for extended periods of time is common.   Completion of complex tasks under deadline pressure may be required. This position may, on occasion, also require evening and weekend work based on business needs.  Interruptions may occur.
