Why This Role Matters

The Account Manager & Valuer has overall accountability for the planning, organisation, production, and delivery of

cross-category valuations.

The Account Manager & Valuer will plan and communicate with all internal and external parties the initial approach

and ongoing strategy for each project they are assigned. This role is an essential part of building an ongoing pipeline of

Top Client valuations and resulting consignments. They work closely with a Valuation Coordinator to ensure that these valuations and any resulting consignments are delivered to a high standard. The role will involve working on various projects simultaneously and management of conflicting deadlines.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Oversee entire valuation process: carry out pre-valuation visits to assess contents of properties, calculate fees, organise the correct team of specialist and valuers for visit, write briefs, organise working notes, organise travel, coordinate typing post-visit, proofing, quality check and ensure the valuation is delivered on time.

  • Look after and manage the client and advisors achieving the best results for them whilst adhering to Christie's procedures

  • Liaise with European Offices and representatives/Chairman's Office/ CTLs to ensure all parties involved are aware of the progress

  • Oversee resulting multi-departmental consignments: supervise the labelling and shipment of property, liaise with specialists regarding sale dates, estimates, reserves, and paperwork, maintain all correspondence with clients and ensure correct payment is made. Ensure that all promises/commitments made to clients are followed through.

  • Possess detailed knowledge of the correct principles to Christie’s valuations especially those relating to Insurance, loan collateral and Taxation.

  • Pro-actively build the valuation work carried out through the maintenance and development of private, professional and institutional relationships

  • Develop professional profile by providing a full-service pre, during and post-valuation with awareness of the wider client strategy (input in internal strategy meetings, assistance in sales, acting as a point of contact for client etc.)

  • Work with Valuation Coordinators, providing clear instructions, ensuring that their work meets high standards and take an active role in their professional development.

  • Work with Proposals team and specialists to generate proposals and presentations for potential property for sale

  • Agreeing terms for sale with business managers and relevant departments

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Fluent in English

  • Understanding and knowledge current European art market (collecting trends, personal wealth, relationships, philanthropic interests)

  • Strong follow-up skills and ability to manage projects with attention to detail

  • In-depth knowledge of EAV and H&T guidelines

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in auction or similar environment

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication

  • Superior client service skills and extreme discretion with confidential and sensitive information

  • Flexible team player with the ability to lead initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Fluency in other European languages is an advantage
