Academy Lead, Second Line of Defense 

Adyen’s Second Line of Defense includes the Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, Enterprise Risk and Internal Control Functions. 

In your role as Academy Lead, Second Line of Defense, based in Amsterdam, you will be part of a high-performing org and report to the CRCO’s Chief of Staff, while also working closely with Adyen’s Global Learning & Development Team. The scope of this role is cross-functional and you will have two main areas of focus:

Firstly, as the Lead for our Adyen Second Line Academy, your role is to enable Adyen’s growth by scaling the way we train and develop our Second Line teams. You’ll be responsible for designing and launching the global Second Line Academy, finding unobvious ways to scale our business and to help our Second Line teams grow with Adyen. In collaboration with various stakeholders, you will design and deliver the learning journey for our Second Line teams, right from the start. You’re an organizer and a connector between our Second Line subject matter experts who train, and the rest of the Second Line. 

Secondly, you will play a key role in streamlining and adding value to the training that the Second Line provides to the rest of Adyen. As part of this, you will apply your strategic and big picture lens in connecting the dots across Adyen, and translating risk concepts into tangible and meaningful training that resonates with a diverse range of professional profiles. 

What you’ll do

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Adyen’s Second Line Functions, and act as an ambassador of the Second Line Mission - Transforming Complexity into Opportunity ~ Powering Sustainable Growth. 
  • Design the Second Line Academy per Functional learning program - focused on key hard and soft skills needed to scale our business inline with strategy;
  • Manage the Functional learning programs, including to:
    • Leverage subject matter expertise of our global Second Line;
    • Constantly find alternatives and unobvious ways to scale and multiply expertise at global level;
    • Establish and develop an active group of trainers from within the Second Line, who deliver trainings on an ongoing basis;
    • Evaluate and monitor effectiveness of the Functional learning programs (using data analytics) to measure learning outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key advisor to Second Line subject matter experts in order to sharpen and improve the impact of company-wide second line trainings;
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders from Learning & Development (L&D), Second Line leadership, and other academies to align training initiatives with business objectives and strategic enablement.

Who you are 

  • A collaborative leader, skilled at building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders across global diverse teams.
  • You have 5+ years of experience in program management, learning & development, preferably in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • You have affinity with or worked in a Second Line function, such as Compliance, Regulatory, Legal, Enterprise Risk or Internal Control 
  • You have a deep understanding of learning & development principles, including program design, facilitation, and training strategy execution.
  • You have strong data analysis skills, with experience leveraging performance metrics to enhance learning programs.
  • You are an exceptional communicator with strong facilitation, and presentation skills, and the ability to align diverse viewpoints and drive strategic initiatives.
  • You are comfortable navigating complexity ~ ideally in a financial/tech context.
  • You have a natural curiosity that allows you to tackle difficult questions with enthusiasm.
