3rd Shift Maintenance Lead

Job Description

The Team Lead will work directly with the Department Supervisor to direct the departmental staff and maintenance processes in coordination with and in the absence of the Production Supervisor or manager. This position will be considered as the “back up” to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for the management of their department under the direction of the Supervisor and Manager.

This individual will provide positive leadership and work direction to assigned group of departments Leads and employees within the assigned departments. Ensures a safe work area and, under the direction of the supervisor, guides, trains, and coordinates activities in the department.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with all aspects of safety and be extremely safety conscious
    Have troubleshooting skills in the following areas: Primarily Electrical, PLC’s and pneumatic & hydraulic controls.
  • Pipe fitting and installation (air lines, water piping, electrical conduit)
  • Willing to work weekends and odd hours as required
  • Able to follow a routine schedule of preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Able to read and follow schematics, parts and instruction manuals
    Great problem solving/decision making skills
  • Team attitude and ability to work well with team members
  • Safely Operate and run, any power tool in shop

  • Responsible for the operational start-up and shut down of facility; including alarm system, lights, compressors, dust collectors and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • A qualified candidate would have prior knowledge of boiler operations, maintain and repair two 20,000-pound-per-hour wood-waste/natural gas fired boilers and ancillary equipment safely, efficiently and in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 7+ years of heavy mechanical/electrical manufacturing experience.
  • Must have positive leadership skills, excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of management in a professional manner.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the maintenance processes throughout the plant and excellent knowledge of the machines, operations and production flow in the areas of responsibility.
  • Must have the ability to work with very little direct supervision and appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Prefer mechanical and electrical knowledge, vocational trade school or work experience in the maintenance field, CMRP cert.
  • responsible for the operational start-up and shut down of facility; including alarm system, lights, compressors, dust collectors and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Required to effectively communicate equipment issues (before/during /after shift) (shift to shift / dept. to dept. / trade to management)
  • Principles of mechanics (coupling, shaft alignment, bearings, gears and lubrication)
  • PLC, capable of edits, design and repair
  • Self-starter who works effectively without close supervision
  • Welding skillset preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience in LIMBLE a plus, ability to write shift reports and communication across shifts.
  • Be available for emergency call-back and on-call status.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged standing and repetitive motions, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling
  • On occasions, required to work in extreme conditions (hot/cold/rain/noise) (indoor/outdoor)
  • May be required to frequently lift to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs. as well as push/pull carts
  • Hand dexterity and strength
  • Overtime is required, including weekends and holidays sometimes with little or no advance notice
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule
  • It is an essential function of this position that you report to work on a regular basis
