Job Description

The intern will be joining the Lab Excellence Team, a group focused on advancing quality, efficiency, and compliance within the QC laboratories. The team partners across both chemistry and microbiology operations to deliver high-impact projects such as equipment onboarding, data trending and analysis, investigation support, and continuous improvement initiatives. By collaborating with QC, validation, project management, and quality assurance functions, the Lab Excellence Team plays a key role in strengthening laboratory operations and driving sustainable improvements that support both day-to-day testing and long-term strategic goals.

The Quality Control Continuous Improvement Intern  will support a dynamic special projects team within the Quality Control organization, contributing to both group initiatives and individual assignments. This role will provide exposure to chemistry and microbiology laboratory operations while assisting with key projects that enhance efficiency and compliance. Responsibilities include performing data trending and analysis, supporting laboratory investigations, assisting with equipment onboarding activities, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will gain hands-on experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration while building a strong foundation in quality systems and laboratory operations.

How You Will Contribute:

Duties will include the following, under the manager's supervision

  • Support internal activities like team meetings in preparation of key program activities.

  • Use of AI enabled tools for efficiency in documents process

Internship Development Opportunities:

Interns will learn:

  • How to perform trend analysis and technical report preparation

  • How to prepare improvement changes for change control execution

  • Approaches to solving real-world problems in QC

Job Requirements:

  • This position will be onsite and require daily (M-F) attendance in the Covington QC laboratory per week.

  • Must be pursuing a minimum of Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry another relevant field

  • Demonstrate an understanding of concepts in basic data analysis and exposure to laboratory setting

  • Experience in applying machine-learning algorithms to very large datasets, very likely with missing data, to correlate available data with risk of SAEs

  • Be acquainted with standard techniques of model training, validation, and characterization

Internship Eligibility 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)   

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
