Job Description

The Manufacturing Implementation Engineering Team is responsible for defining, developing, and implementing manufacturing changes at the Covington, GA manufacturing site.  The group utilizes engineering and project management skills to align processes and teams to improve manufacturing performance.

The Manufacturing Implementation Engineer Intern will work as part of cross-functional project teams to advance multiple projects through the project lifecycle.  The intern will work with a member of the Manufacturing Implementation Engineering team to gain exposure to the entire project lifecycle, including project development, project initiation, project implementation, and project closure.  Projects will have a direct impact on the manufacture of plasma derived therapies at the Covington, GA facility.

How You Will Contribute:

As a Manufacturing Implementation Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support various stages of project execution, from conception to implementation

  • Scope and develop proposals for manufacturing improvement opportunities

  • Coordinate project implementation within manufacturing

  • Work directly with Manufacturing, Manufaturing Execution System (MES), Process Control System (PCS), Validation, and Quality Assurance teams to scope and develop changes

  • Build team capabilities by improving internal business processes

Internship Development Opportunities:

Interns will:

  • Get practice using a technical background and working cross-functionally to solve real-world manufacturing problems

  • Obtain hands-on experience with project management and stakeholder communication

  • Learn the varied responsibilities of engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams in the production of pharmaceutical products

  • Obtain exposure to quality systems used to operate in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment

  • Learn basics of manufacturing automation system functionality and how to translate general customer requirements into specific technical requirements

Job Requirements:

  • This position will be full-time and require 5 days per week of work onsite at the Covington, GA site.

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject, preferably engineering.

  • Self-driven individual that is willing to initiate contact and work closely with individuals outside of their direct team.

  • Ability to work in a clean room environment.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (such as hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs) due to safety requirements in specific areas.

  • Ability to work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, salts, buffers and filter aid that may require respiratory protection.

Internship Eligibility 

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship  

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later  

  • The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)   

  • The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames   

  • Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates   

  • Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$21.00 - $46.00

The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.  The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
