2026 Summer Intern – Discovery Oncology

 

Department Summary

The Department of Discovery Oncology is seeking a talented and motivated summer intern to join the biology research efforts to identify and characterize the next generation of oncology targets. In this role, the candidate will use cell biology and in vitro biochemistry techniques to mechanistically dissect the molecular pathways conferring cancer dependency. The position allows the unique opportunity to participate in basic biology research deeply embedded in drug discovery efforts.

 

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, onsite  

 

The Opportunity:

      Work together with other scientists in the group to design and execute experiments using cell culture and in vitro biochemistry techniques

      Keep detailed records of the research findings using an electronic notebook

      Communicate and present results to a diverse group of scientists during internal meetings

 

Program Highlights

      Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

      Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

      A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

      Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

      Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

 

Who You Are

 

Required Education:

   Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)

Required Mayors:

   Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related

Required skills:

   Hands-on research experience in cell biology/biochemistry/molecular biology lab environment is required

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

   Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

   Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

   Experience in advanced cell culture techniques such as RNAi, cell line engineering using CRISPR/Cas9 or PiggyBac transposase systems

   Experience with biochemical techniques such as protein purification and in vitro reconstitution experiments is a plus

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 
 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of  California is $46.00 hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
